The April issue of the Saint-Petersburg magazine Territory of Business published an article by Mikhail Stetsenko, Head of PTG’s IP Practice, under the title “How to protect IP rights: tips for investors”. The magazine was established by Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Saint-Petersburg Region. It analyses the main economic trends in St. Petersburg City and Region, publishes news about all important events in the business community of the region.

PTG Rus announces the opening of a new service – personnel consulting. This decision was made in line with both the general strategic plans for development of the company and the overall situation in the market connected with the current financial crisis. The new service is first of all aimed at the enterprises which consider cutting down expenses and downsizing their staff. In general this service will allow our clients to implement legal audit of all the in-house documents, contracts, procedures and practice in the field of HR in respect to their conformity to the Russian Labour Code.

PTG Rus is happy to announce the arrival of Rimma Soldatova as Head of Customs Practice. This appointment will allow PTG to strengthen its Customs-Regulation division and widen its range of high-quality services in the sphere of customs regulation and legal support for companies involved in foreign economic activities. Rimma has more-than-ten-year experience in the field of customs law and the administration of related court cases. She will advise clients on customs and tax issues relating to export-import transactions.

PT&G Legal Consulting completes the process of reorganization and changes its name to PTG Rus Limited. The new name and structure reflects the expansion of the company’s activities on the Russian and international markets and the move forward to a new stage of business development.

October 12-18, 2008
Zemfira Akberova, Lawyer, PTG Legal Consulting, participated as a guest speaker in the seminar Protection of Intellectual Property: Classification of Goods and Definition of Country of the Origin of Goods. The seminar was held in the city of Krasnodar under support of the Southern Customs Directorate. Zemfira Akberova spoke about the conclusion of lisencing agreements between companies-importers and rightholders. Participants of the seminar included representatives of customs and law enforcement authorities, General Prosecutor’s Office and representatives of large companies: Nike, Ford, Chanel, Procter&Gamble, Sony, Levi’s and other.
October 5-8, 2008
Svetlana Solovieva, Director for Development, PTG Legal Consulting, visited Belgium as a member of the business delegation from St. Petersburg, which was organized and supported by the St. Petersburg government on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the sister-city relations between Antwerp and St. Petersburg.
The business visit featured the presentation of the intermodal transport and logistics complex of St. Petersburg to representatives of port, transport, stevedore and logistics companies from Belgium and other European countries.

On September 23-26, 2008, representatives of PTG Legal Consulting participated in the 2nd Russian Agricultural Outlook Forum: Forecast and Trends 2008. The program of the forum included a panel discussion on Private Labels and Intellectual Property. The event was held within the frames of the WORLD FOOD MOSCOW Exhibition.
The Forum will be attended by key representatives of Russian agro-business, the banking sector, top managers of industrial unions, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation as well as other governmental bodies and well-known analysts of Russian and international agricultural markets.

Following the request of the trademark holder and producer, specialists of PTG Legal Consulting together with the law enforcement bodies carried out a special check of local vendors selling Cricket lighters. It was found out that a significant number of vendors sold fake low-quality Cricket lighters which can be dangerous for consumers. Several legal cases have been filed and won against distributors of fake Cricket lighters.

The topic of the hearings: Protection of St. Petersburg Consumers from Forged, Counterfeit and Poor-Quality Products. The hearings took place at the White Hall of the Mariinsky Palace.

Mikhail Stetsenko, Head of PTG’s Patent Practice passed the state certification to become a patent attorney of the Russian Federation in the field of trademarks (Reg. # 1233).

At the end of 2007 PTG Legal Consulting launched corporate rebranding to update its logo and design and to sharpen and narrow its message to potential customers and to differentiate the company in its optimal market. The dominating red colour of the new corporate design symbolizes inexhaustible energy, power, strength of mind, commitment and motivation.
